Welcome to the Danish WOC Tour 2006

The Danish WOC Tour is an international orienteering event, which will be held concurrently with the World Orienteering Championships in Denmark.

The Danish WOC Tour will be a 6-day arrangement between 30 th July – 5 th august, with a rest day after the first three days. For those who do not want to participate on all 6 days there will be possibility of competing on only the last 3 days.

The races will take place in the best orienteering terrain in central Jutland and are scheduled so that WOC Tour participants will be able to attend all of the World Championship races. 4 out of 6 of the WOC Tour races will take place in the same terrain as the World Championship races, using the same arenas, on the same orienteering maps, and with the possibility of trying out some of the World Championship legs.

We guarantee an interesting and exciting competition for the elite and the do-it-for-the-exercise runners alike.

WOC Tour 2006 is planned to be an attractive holiday experience for the whole family, and ther will be facilities for child-care with play-activity.

The WOC Tour Event Centre will be “Ridehuset” , a charming old exhibition centre in central Århus, adjacent to the WOC 2006 Event Centre at the famous Town Hall, the Music Hall, and the new Art Museum AroS.

The WOC Tour Event Centre will be the main social gathering point for all the competitors, spectators, and the public. Here all the prize-giving ceremonies will take place, as well as a variety of entertainment.

Parking facilities are excellent in the city centre of Århus and there is easy access by bus and train.

Within a short walking distance from the WOC Tour Event Centre a wide variety of hotels in all price categories, can be found, and in addition, budget accommodation in the form of hostels and camp-sites will be made available in close proximity to the Centre.

The city of Århus is beautifully located beside the bay of Århus and close to a number of Jutland’s most popular sights. It has 250,000 inhabitants and is renowned for its flourishing cultural activities and many tourist attractions. The city is also an attractive retail centre with a wide variety of specialist shops and malls.

The distance from WOC Tour Event Centre in Århus to the race arenas varies from 5 to 60 kilometres. A shuttle bus transport service will be available to participants at a reasonable price.
