Entrants in classes M/W10, M/W12, B1 and B2 plus Open course 4 and 5 will be able to start whenever they like between the first and last start times, provided that in each class there is a 1-minute interval between each start.
In all other classes we will produce a random start list for the first 5 days. The start interval will be 1 minute. However we will try to give runners entered from the same club or registration group start times within an hour of each other.
After each stage, a points score will be calculated for every runner. Retirements and disqualified runners get 0 points. The fastest runner in each class is awarded 1.000 points. Each runner below in the results list gets a points score which is calculated by multiplying the winning time by 1.000 and dividing by the runner’s own time. The times are calculated in minutes.
After the stage, the score is added to the previous stage scores. When a runner has taken part in more than 3 stages, only the best 3 results count of the stages he has taken part in. The runner’s points total (3 best scores) after the 5th stage determine the start time for the 6th stage, the final.
On the final day, classes with more than 58 runners will be divided into an A heat and a B heat. The 35% of the runners with the highest points totals (3 best scores) are placed in the A heat, whilst the remaining runners are in the B heat. The A heat starts first. Within each heat, the runner with the smallest points total starts first, and the runner with the highest points total starts last. Runners start at 1-minute intervals.
The overall winner in each class of WOC Tour 2006 will be the runner with the fastest time in Stage 6.
